Communication is a type of interaction where we share information in the form of symbols, signs, messages, thoughts and opinions. The various ways of communication include speech, sign language, body language, touch and eye contact. Communication includes a sender and a receiver. Communication is said to be complete only when the receiver has understood the sender message and intent.
Communication is of four types
1) Verbal communication
2) Non verbal communication
3) Written communication
4) Visual communication

Verbal communication: It includes sound, language, speech and word. Here ones emotions are expressed in the form of words. It’s further classified to
• Intrapersonal communication: It’s a private communication restricted to ourselves. Such communication can be conveyed verbally or stay confined as thoughts.
• Interpersonal communication: It’s the type of communication between two individuals
• Small group communication: Here more than two people are involved in the communication. And each participant is allowed to interact. E.g. Press conference
• Public communication: Here an individual addresses to a large gathering of people. Eg, election campaign

Non verbal communication: Here the message can be conveyed without using words. It includes physical ways of communication such as touch, expression, symbol, sign language.
Written communication: Here messages are conveyed by written words. E.g., letter, journals. Such messages can be edited and rectified before it’s communicated to the receiver. It also includes visual communication such as laptops and phones.
Visual communication: It includes visual display of information such as photography, signs, maps, colors, banners, posters. It also involves transfer of messages in the form of texts and can be received through electronic media like phone computer etc.
Communication is an effective tool for socialization.
